Radio Narrowbanding
The Federal Communications Commission is mandating all public safety and industrial/business licensees must convert existing 25kHz efficiency operations in VHF and UHF to minimym 12.5kHz efficiency analog or digital operation by January 1, 2013.
What action is needed?
-You must have radios that are 12.5 kHz capable. Motorola radios certified since 1997 are 12.5 kHz capable.
-Identify radios that can be reprogrammed. Download a list of capable Motorola radios.
-Identify radios that need to be replaced with new 12.5 kHz capable radios.
-Develop operational and funding plans to replace equipment that is not capable of operating at 12.5 kHz efficiency.
